How to recycle…

Small hard plastic

Did you know that if you put small pieces of plastic straight into your recycling bin eg. straws they will fall through the cracks at the materials recovery facility and will end up in landfill. To recycle small pieces of hard plastic place them into a milk bottle or juice container. Keep the container in a convenient place and fill it up with your small plastics, including: straws, bottle tops, bread tags, plastic cutlery, netted onion bags and cable ties.  When the bottle is full, screw the lid on and chuck it into your recycling bin.

Small metal

Did you know that if you put small pieces of metal such as bottle caps into your recycling bin loose they will end up in landfill as they are too small to sort by hand. To recycle small pieces of metal place them into a milo/coffee tin. Keep the container in a convenient place and fill it up with your small metal pieces, including: bottle caps, tin lids and pieces of wire. When the tin is full put the lid on and chuck it into your recycling bin.

Cans/tins

To recycle cans eg. baked beans, rinse the can, place the lid inside and then squash the can to ensure the lid cannot fall out. The can then goes straight into your recycling bin.
